Andreia, the mother of two young girls, is also the mother of Sebodoria Ancestral. The story of our brand cannot be separated from the story of the woman who created it, because it is within this personal journey that we find the meaning that guides our brand.

For many years, Andreia avoided conventional cosmetics. Even organic, vegan, or so-called “clean” options caused adverse reactions, especially on her face. This sensitivity led her to step away from mainstream cosmetics, dedicating herself exclusively to creating plant-based cosmetics for herself and her daughters since 2020.

At one stage of her life, she adopted a strictly vegetarian diet, motivated by respect for animals. However, over time, this choice led to significant nutritional deficiencies and the development of an autoimmune condition. Returning to a diet that included animal-based products was therefore a decision made for health reasons and coincided with an important change: the transition from Ericeira to the Island of Santa Maria, in the Azores, a territory where animal welfare and regenerative agriculture are part of the local identity.

It was during this period, through international contacts, that she became aware of the use of tallow in skincare. This ingredient is widely valued in other countries for its benefits for various skin types, including sensitive skin and skin affected by eczema or psoriasis. When she produced tallow at home for the first time, she felt an immediate transformation: skin marked by difficult years regained softness, comfort, and true nourishment. From that moment on, she incorporated tallow into her daily care routine and continued this practice at home until deciding, in October 2024, to create Sebodoria Ancestral and share these balms with others.

This discovery led her to reclaim an ancient form of knowledge: the use of tallow as an essential ingredient in skin care. In the past, tallow was considered highly nourishing and was used both in cooking and in skin care, within the logic known as nose to tail, which holds that no part of the animal should be wasted.
For Andreia, recovering this practice means honouring animals and giving back the value of the nourishment they provide.
