Description

This artisanal face balm combines Azorean grass-fed tallow with frankincense resin, organic jojoba oil and beeswax. Although formulated for facial care, it may also be used on the body, particularly on areas that benefit from skin regeneration, tone uniformity and overall comfort.

Just a little goes a long way: a small amount is enough to do its job, allowing the product to last a long time. Shelf life is 6 months after opening.

Frankincense resin, obtained from species of the Boswellia genus, has been traditionally recognised for its anti-inflammatory, regenerative, rejuvenating and skin-protective properties (Hamidpour et al., 2013; Lardos et al., 2011). The boswellic acids present in frankincense inhibit pro-inflammatory enzymes and help preserve skin structure, including collagen, playing a relevant role in the maintenance of skin firmness, elasticity and a youthful appearance. These mechanisms make it particularly beneficial for sensitive, reactive or chronically inflamed skin, such as eczema, psoriasis or skin sensitised by sun exposure or medical treatments (Dontje et al., 2024; Togni et al., 2015). Additionally, the literature describes a potential anti-aging effect, including in the prevention of photoaging, by protecting the skin against UVB-induced damage through signalling pathways associated with the preservation of collagen and skin elasticity, which is especially relevant for facial care (Kotb et al., 2023). In cases of compromised facial skin, there is also evidence supporting barrier function and reduction of transepidermal water loss, contributing to skin that appears more comfortable, even, resilient and revitalised (Tsai et al., 2022; Dontje et al., 2024).

We use organic jojoba oil due to its structural similarity to human sebum, its lower occlusivity and non-comedogenic profile, making this balm particularly suitable for facial use. Beeswax completes the formulation by forming a natural protective barrier that helps seal in moisture and protect the skin from external aggressors.

Ingredients:  Tallow (Grass-fed Cow Tallow from the Azores), Boswellia Serrata Resin (Frankincense), Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil (Organic Jojoba Oil), Cera Alba (Beeswax).

Directions for Use:  Apply a small amount to the face while the skin is still slightly damp and gently massage until absorbed. It may also be applied to the body, particularly on dry, sensitised or exposed areas. The balm forms a protective layer that helps seal in the skin’s natural moisture. Store in a cool, dry place.

Precautions:  For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Discontinue use in case of irritation.

Note:  As this is an artisanal product, natural variations between batches may occur.
