Description

This artisanal healing balm was formulated to support body care in situations where the skin requires additional support, such as irritation, severe dryness, weakened areas, or during skin regeneration processes. It combines Azorean grass-fed tallow with macerated calendula flowers, extra virgin olive oil, and Azorean beeswax, resulting in a nourishing, protective formulation especially suited for sensitised skin.

Just a little goes a long way: a small amount is enough to do its job, allowing the product to last a long time. Shelf life is 6 months after opening.

Tallow presents a lipid structure naturally biocompatible with human skin, contributing to the reinforcement of the skin barrier and to the reduction of transepidermal water loss. Scientific literature describes its ability to support skin integrity and promote cutaneous comfort, being particularly useful in contexts of dryness, fragility, or skin recovery (Russell et al., 2024; Kowalska et al., 2017).

Calendula is widely recognised for its anti-inflammatory, soothing, wound-healing, and antimicrobial properties. Studies indicate that extracts of Calendula officinalis act on the modulation of inflammatory mediators through the inhibition of enzymes such as cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO), as well as by reducing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, thereby contributing to the reduction of inflammation and skin discomfort (Silva et al., 2021). In addition to its anti-inflammatory action, calendula demonstrates a relevant effect on wound healing and skin regeneration. Its topical application has been associated with increased epithelialisation, promotion of angiogenesis, and reduction of wound area, and it has been traditionally used in the care of damaged skin, minor lesions, diaper rash, chafing, mild burns, and other inflammatory skin conditions (Ashwlayan et al., 2018).These mechanisms make calendula particularly valuable in supporting skin regeneration and improving the appearance of acne marks.

Extra virgin olive oil acts as an emollient and nourishing agent, rich in fatty acids and antioxidant compounds, helping to soften the skin and preserve its elasticity. Beeswax completes the formulation by forming a natural protective barrier that seals in moisture and protects the skin from external aggressors, fostering an environment conducive to skin regeneration.

Ingredients: Tallow (Grass-fed Azorean Beef Tallow), Calendula officinalis (Calendula Flowers), Olea europaea Fruit Oil (Extra Virgin Olive Oil), Cera Alba (Beeswax).

Directions for Use: Apply a small amount to slightly damp skin and gently massage into the desired area. The balm forms a protective layer that helps seal in the moisture the skin requires. Suitable for body use whenever intensive skin care is needed. Store in a cool, dry place.

Precautions: For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.

Note: As this is an artisanal product, natural variations between batches may occur.
